Fellowes Powershred Description

If your shredding needs are moderate, you will probably like the Fellowes Powershred PS-60 .It can gulp up to 12 sheets of paper per feed and strip them down to 7/32 inch pieces. It will work at a rate of 130 sheets every minute. The front feed is 9 inch and can take in a legal sized paper quite easily. The durable steel cutters makes it sure that the shredder can cut through credit cards, paper clips and staples. The motors used are heavy duty motors and can allow extended shredding cycle. There is a clear window which allows you to see if the 6 gallon waste bin is full or not. In addition, there is a sheet capacity gauge that prevents jams and has a reverse function which can be handy to remove the over-fed papers. For quick operation, there is an option for auto on/off.

Summary: Not very secure.

The unit cuts the paper in 7/32 strips, this is quite wide for a shredder. You can still read quite a bit of data on the strips. And the basket fills up fast because of the wide long strips. It does have a powerful motor and it is quiet. If you shred for too long the motor will shut down, which is fine, it keeps the motor from over heating, but there are no lights to tell you something is wrong, it will just stop working for a while.

Summary: Good shredder for the money

Works well and has a large capacity trash can. Seems powerful, doesn't bog down when shredding many sheets at once. The strips are kind of thick in my opinion, but should be plenty secure for home use.

Summary: Good shredder, but

I've had this shredder about a month and have used it quite a bit shredding old documents (I've emptied the basket about a dozen times). The shredder appears to be pretty much everything that I thought it would be compared to the cheap shredders I've had in the past. It's certainly more substantial and quieter. My only regret is that I didn't spend a extra $20 for the similar Fellowes model that confetti cuts instead of the strip cut on this model. The basket fills up very fast with the large strip cuts made by this machine and I believe that a confetti cut machine would allow more paper to be shredded before the basket needs to be emptied. The trade off between the strip cut and confetti cut machines, as I understand, is that the confetti machines require a shredding oil to be used occasionally and the strip cut machines don't.

Summary: A nice shredder for the money

Well after doing some research on shredders this so far is a very nice shredder for the money....I had a good pile to shred and it went through it all pretty easy in a fast time... my xerox shredder went up over the weekend which was a good shredder also, but this Fellowes ps60 is better , its bigger, it handles more and it makes less noise...the strips it cuts are small enough for idenity theft protection and its power of med to heavy duty is enough to handle most jobs...

Bottom line its a nice shredder for the money....

Summary: I wish I hadgone to the store

I pruchased the PS-60/PS-65c, but when I got it home I was sorry I had not gone to the store instead of mail order. I had a previous Fellowes shredder in which the paper dumped in a basket. When the basket was full one pulled it out horizontally snd emptied it. With the new replacement one has to lift off the top which contains the heavy motor and blade assembly to empty the bin. At 88 yrs I don't need that. As a shredder it is fine, giving parellel slices from quiet smooth operatin, If I had had a better, closer look I would have seen that and avoided the heavy lifting. May be fine for a heavyweight, although I would not have wanted it at any time. It has turned out to be a real hassle BB
