Aurora AS1018CD Description
The Aurora AS1018CD dual cross cut shredder ensures that all the confidential information is shredded safely and is kept out of the reach of the criminals. It has a 9 inch wide slot for front feed and is capable of shredding credit cards as well. It has the capacity to take in 10 paper sheets in every pass. It has 3.5 gallon bin and has a dimension of 16.1 x 9.5 x 14 inch(HxWxL). The total weight of the machine is 14.5lbs and is black in color. It also features a safety interlock.

Summary: Works for a couple times then breaks down
 
I bought this paper shredder when I helped my friend move and discovered she had bags of credit card and bank statements she was afraid of throwing out because of identity theft. I bought the aurora after much research and was very happy with it the first few times I used it despite the amount of paper particles shed all over the house (you can't put a plastic bag in the basket so you have to dump it out into the trash). After about the third time I used it, always careful not to overload it, it started making strange clunking noises and I kept having to use the reverse button because it wouldn't take a whole sheet of paper (mind you, only ONE sheet) then it kept getting jammed but the paper jam button wasn't lit and I couldn't get the paper out, even with the reverse function. I had to resort to using tweezers to get the tiny piece of paper that was jammed out. Now it's stopped altogether. I read the manual carefully, never put in more than 7-8 sheets at a time, emptied it regularly and avoided overuse and it STILL clunked out. Very unhappy with this purchase. Maybe I got a lemon but I don't think so.

I got mine for $80...My last one was a Fellowes $40 model. This one is really solid and seems fairly powerful. I haven't tried shredding CDs or credit cards but I've fed about 6 sheets of paper at a time and it handled that no problem. Interesting that Aurora recommends using a little cooking oil on paper and run through the shredder once a month...A lot cheaper than shredder oil...Anyway it's a good size for a personal shredder and has a window to see when paper is high and needs to be emptied. I'm happy with my choice.

Excellent size, powerful motor. Undocumented feature I encounter is that the unit when working for about 50 continues minutes will shut off. It appears to be done to prevent motor burn out.
I recommend this unit.
