Summary: Compact and useful
 
The first one I received had the switch stuck in the reverse position. The replacement has worked well. The only irritating thing is that a lot of paper gets stuck in the bottom of the shredding mechanism, so when you pull out the drawer, scraps will fall onto the bottom of the unit and sometimes out of it. It is good for occasional use and does work on credit cards as promised. You do need to fold papers in half to fit in the slot but it is worth it for the small footprint.

This tabletop shredder with a detachable drawer is very conveniant with a powerful motor for its size.Being smaller legal size documents need to be folded in half to shred,but everything I attempted to shred worked,credit cards,staples and layers of paper .Good value and extremely space saving and neat.

I bought this shredder because I needed a small machine to fit in a cupboard. The size is good for me and I find that it shreds well. However, here are a few things you should keep in mind:

1. The 7-sheet shred capacity is misleading. In order to shred a sheet of paper, you need to fold it in thirds. That gives you three layers, which for the purposes of this shredder, would be 3 "sheets." If you stack 2 pieces of paper and fold them in thirds, you get 6 "sheets." The shredder will handle this, but it can't do any more than that. So it's really a 2-sheet capacity shredder.

2. The power switch is not labeled very clearly. It's hard to tell what mode the machine is on.

3. You need to empty the shredder bin quite often, and open it frequently to tamp down the paper shreds. Otherwise, the shredded paper will get pulled back up into the mechanism and jam it. Emptying the shred bin and running the shredder in reverse for a while will clear it. I've had this same problem with full size shredders too, but since the shred bin on this one is so small, you need to empty it more often.

Other than the things I mentioned above, I find this shredder to be useful for shredding the occasional credit card offer. It fits nicely inside a cabinet shelf.

Summary: Lightweight and sturdy
 
I purchased this after my Staples Mailmate suddenly died after 2 years use. While this shredder has a smaller feed mouth I do like the overall size and color as it first compactly on my desk and matches my decor. It can handle paper and credit cards very well shredding them into confetti. I do find that I have to empty it pretty frequently and unlike the Mailmate, it can't be left plugged in without being lit "on" so I have to unplug it each time. For those 2 reasons I took off one star.
