Summary: Shreds the competition
 
I got this shredder about a month ago and so far, it's been great.

I had one of those over the wastebasket types before but those presented several problems:

1. The feed slot was so small, I actually had to open the junk mail and feed in separate pages
2. The paper would only be shredded into long strips - not very secure
3. Strips of paper would inevitably fall all over the floor would I would left the shredder off the wastebasket to empty it.

This unit presents none of those problems. - I can feed an entire junk envelope directly into the shredder and it's shredded into very small bits.There is no mess because the wastebasket just slides out from the unit well below the shredder teeth. I use a trash bag for easy disposal.


The one minor problem is that sometimes the trash bag trips the "bin full" alert which then beeps continously until fixed. I just pull the basket out and then put it back which clears the situation right away.

Summary: Finally, the third times the charm!
 
This is the third (fourth if you count the shredder I bought for my Mother also) shredder I have purchased. I "burned" through the first two in short time and finally decided to pay a little more and get my money's worth this time. I had a backlog of shredding to do and this shredder handled it with ease. The shredding capacity (16 sheets) made quick work of my pile even though I was only shredding about 5-8 sheets at a time because some of the paper was heavier than "normal". The bin capacity is the best thing. Both in size and ease of emptying. I realize that it isn't professional strength, but after the "toys" I had previously, I can definitely recommend it for home or even a small office support use.

Summary: Buy this one
 
This is the best shredder I have ever owned and I've had quite a few. Others are often loud, overheat, jam and well, you know, are just bad. This one is a real "sleeper" and hard to find for some reason. It is simple to operate and empty. It runs slower than others but is very quiet and very dependable. I would not get it to shred a zillion things at once, but for small office or home use it is great. Handles paper, credit cards and cd's easily. I now own two and both are great.

This is a unit I purchased to replace a 12 sheet shredder that jammed up shredding a cd. This one so far has chewed up anything I have put into it. the "bin full" warning is a good feature. A good solid unit for a home office.

Summary: Best prices shredder on the market
 
Performed a significant amount of research on shredders on the Internet. We've had this for close to a year and it's still going strong. Wanted a shredder I could feed junk mail into without having to open it. It takes thick credit card junk mail and makes quick work of them. No need to open, just run them through the shredder as is. Also easily shreds CDs. Cross-cut shred is a bonus so there's no risk of identity theft. No maintenence required. My second favorite feature is the shred basket can be removed without taking the cutter head off. My old shredder had a shredder head that sat on top of the shred basket and made a mess when I emptied it. Will also shred occasional staple. Highly recommend.
