Fellowes 32057 Description
The P-57Cs from the house of Fellowes has come up with a SafeSense technology which has a well deserved patent pending. The technology features an active sensor which stops shredding as soon as someone touches the paper entry. Made for light duty office or home use, the machine is capable of shredding 8 paper sheets at a time and reduces the document to a size of 5/32x2 inch with a secured confetti cut. The highest daily capacity of the machine is 160 sheets of paper i.e. 10-20 times a day. It has a 9 inch wide space for paper entry and has an auto start/stop function that enables auto shredding. It is capable of shredding standard legal sized documents and also accepts staples and credit cards thanks to its durable steel cutters. For non-shredded material to be disposed the shredder is open in the front and the users are capable of viewing the 5-gallon waste basket whenever it is full. The P-57Cs has a warranty of 3 years and comes with a sheet capacity gauge which prevents paper jamming. The reverse action is capable of removing any jammed paper!

Shredder doesn't take much space at all, only problem I noticed is it's top heavy, I knocked it over by accident, my fault though, I had it in my path, just keep it against the wall or out of the way, It needs to cool off if you run it too long, not really a problem for home use. It;s a shredder so I expect the noise

Right out of the box, I had about 2 minutes of shredding to do. This machine will obviously NOT shred 8 pages at once. For normal 16-20 lb paper, it will manage 2 pages, or 3 with a lot of groaning. No way would I try putting a credit card or a CD into this model! After 2 minutes of shredding, I thought I would try oiling the unit as recommended in the instructions. I'd also bought a bottle of the Fellowes brand shredder lube. They say "one squirt across the width of the opening, then shred one page of paper, then run the unit on manual reverse for 2-3 seconds." The unit promptly jammed on the reverse 2-3 seconds part of the instructions. It took a pen knife blade and around 20 minutes of messing around to un-jam the unit from the top slot (advice: unplug it while you're messing around with a knife blade in the slot!). I think I'll just omit the "reversing" part of the lube instructions on my next lube job. One other bug: the shredder part has an unusual shape with a translucent scoop toward the front as it slides into the accompanying waste basket. When the basket needs to be emptied, you'll find that little "scoop" to be a very handy way to drop a bundle of shred on the floor as you try to lift the shredder off the wastebasket. All in all ... I'm hoping this one lasts a year. It's just a so-so shredder. Nothing special at all.

I bought this shredder to replace an old and cheap one that had broken down. The Fellowes 32057 works quickly and efficiently, turns those unwanted credit card solicitations into confetti in an instant. It's so easy! No jamming, no need to back out, no mess. I bought the plastic bags that fit it, and between them, the necessary destruction of private material is a breeze.

I rated it only 4 simply because it's a tad heavy for me to be pulling out from under the table when I want to use it. It's missing one thing: wheels!
