Powershred(R) Description
Comes from the house of Fellowes, the DS-1 model is loaded with the patented Safe Sense (TM) technology that turns off the machine as soon as the paper entry is touched. This is a light duty shredder that reduces the papers into confetti pieces with a size of 5/32 x 1-3/8 inches. It can function 10-20 times a day and is capable of taking in 11 sheets per pass. The paper shredder has a 9 inch front feed and gracefully embraces standard legal sized papers. It can destroy up to 220 papers a day. Also accepts credit cards, small paper clips and staples. It has 4.75 gallons of waste bin and has a magnetic safety interlock that stops the shredder�s operation when the basket is removed. Also features steel cutters, reverse functionality to remove paper jams and auto start/stop. The shred speed is 12 feet per minute and the run time of the machine is 4-5 mins on and 20 mins off.

Summary: Better shredder
 
We bought the DS-1 shredder to replace a shredder that finally gave out on us. Of course, we like the fact that it is a cross-cut shredder and not just one that cuts paper into strips and has the power to cut up even credit cards and CD's. What is new for us is the, "safe sense" to keep your fingers from accidentally being caught in the shredder and easily removable tilt-out mesh basket that is easier to see when it is full. With this model we don't have to lift the shredder motor off the top of the basket to empty it.

Summary: Good Looking, Works Well!
 
Shredder not only looks really cool and sleek in a professional office, but it works well. I did a once-in-a-decade cleaning out of my file cabinet and spent the better part of an hour shredding papers. This shredder kept up with me the whole time. When I put papers with staples into the machine, there was no difference in shredding speed or power when the staples went through.

This is more stylish than most. Not sure how powerful it is, because it does not seem to be as strong as our last one that bit the dust. Overall I am pleased with the purchase, value, & design.

Summary: I love this shredder
 
No problems whatsoever and I don't have to worry about all the paper when I do my bills . . . The confetti cut is awesome. I tried reassembling some paper in all the mess and there was no chance whatsoever of doing that. It looks great too. I highly recommend it if you dont care about spending a little extra money (I had gift certificates :-) ).
